As the newest addition to our growing network of community funds, the North Shore Area Community Fund officially launched on Dec. 4 at the Tatamagouche Library.

The North Shore Area Community Fund will provide grants to community organizations for dynamic activities, with the grants coming from endowments that sustain long-term goals, says fund executive chair David Stevenson.

“By identifying both immediate and future needs and opportunities, our local leadership plans to build sustainable solutions which benefit our individuals and community as they become more resilient, resourceful, and ready for the future.”

The launch also coincides with the kick-off of a matching campaign. Every dollar donated to the fund between December 1 and February 28, 2018 will be matched dollar for dollar by a local donor up to $100,000 for a total of $200,000 in donations to the North Shore Area Community Fund. If the goal is reached, it will be the fastest growing community fund in Nova Scotia.

The establishment of the North Shore Area Community Fund brings the total number of community funds managed by the Community Foundation of Nova Scotia to nine, with at least two more in the works for 2018.
