Together with the United Way of Colchester County we’re launching the Colchester Communites Vital Signs report on Nov. 16 at the Marigold Centre in Truro from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Community members, municipal and provincial leaders, and all those interested in hearing about the findings are invited to attend.
The Colchester Communities Vital Signs® report is the result of collaboration between the United Way of Colchester County and the Community Foundation of Nova Scotia, with input and direction from caring citizens and municipal, business, and non-profit leaders throughout Colchester County.
This is the 12th Vital Signs® report produced by the Community Foundation of Nova Scotia. Vital Signs® reports pull together secondary information from Statistics Canada as well as from sources of local information to capture and present the realities, challenges and opportunities in our communities.
Effective philanthropy starts with providing the knowledge and support for communities, charities and citizens to realize their individual potential and collective possibilities. We’re pleased to partner with RBC Wealth Management to host Terry Cooke, Community Foundations of Canada board member and Hamilton Community Foundation president and CEO, as he delivers two free information sessions on social impact investing and municipal partnerships.
Along with stimulating small business growth, social impact investing targets endeavours that generate both financial and social returns. The Hamilton Community Foundation has played a leading role in mobilizing the community to address issues like increasing access to post-secondary education, strengthening neighbourhoods and reducing poverty. Terry will share with Nova Scotians how social impact investing and municipal partnerships can benefit their communities too. Anyone interested in this topic is welcome to attend.
