Priority Funds

Join me in imagining our country as it could be… a smart and caring nation, where all Canadians can succeed, contribute and develop their talents to their fullest potential.” ~ David Johnston, former Governor General of Canada

The Community Foundation of Nova Scotia, like many other foundations across Canada, has accepted the challenge to build a “smart and caring nation” by developing a series of funds that focus on priority areas in the province.

These funds are designed to be nimble, flexible and permanent. They put money back into communities and areas where it’s needed most. More importantly, they will have a long-lasting impact in the province.

CultivARTS Fund: envisioned as a catalyst for rural prosperity by cultivating a sustained presence of the arts in our communities. Initial grants will support long-term “Artist-in-Residency” programs in rural communities across the province.

Keen & Ready Kids Fund: supports early childhood education and development with the vision that community-led enrichment initiatives will create better opportunities for our children to succeed.

Impact Investment Fund: focuses on investing in today’s promising business initiatives and providing a perpetual source of funding for charitable activities that support economic development. This fund leverages a traditional endowment model, where its principal is invested in Nova Scotia based business initiatives and social enterprises that have an impact in our communities.
